# IRefer Club Earns 2026 Awards for Innovation and Startup of the Year

**TORONTO — August 3, 2026** — IRefer Club has received two 2026 Global Recognition Awards, earning honours in the **Innovation** and **Startup of the Year** categories.

The awards recognize two distinct parts of the Canadian company’s development. The Innovation award addresses IRefer Club’s response to changing online search behaviour, while the Startup of the Year award focuses on the operating company, its early implementation and its progress since launch.

IRefer Club organizes information approved by participating businesses—including services, locations, contact details, images and official links—and publishes it in a consistent format intended to complement each company’s existing online presence.

The model was developed for a search environment in which customers may use Google, Maps, online directories, voice assistants or AI-assisted tools when deciding which businesses to contact.

## Two awards with different criteria

Global Recognition Awards said its assessment considered factors including originality, market relevance, early adoption, delivery and the potential to improve established business practices.

Shortlisted applicants are evaluated using the Rasch model, a measurement method used to compare performance across categories and industries.

The Innovation award reflects the company’s effort to connect established search engine optimization practices with the newer requirements of AI-assisted discovery. The underlying work centres on making approved business facts clear, consistent and connected to official sources.

The Startup of the Year award recognizes the company created around that approach. Since launching, IRefer Club has established processes for onboarding, information collection, verification, image handling, link review and human approval before business profiles are published.

## Recognition during a changing search market

The awards arrive as consumer search habits continue to fragment. A business may now be discovered through a conventional search result, a map, a spoken question or an AI-generated response, increasing the importance of accurate information across multiple sources.

IRefer Club does not claim to control search rankings or determine whether a company will appear in an AI-generated answer. Search engines and AI platforms use their own systems and consider factors including relevance, authority, competition and the wording of a customer’s question.
